The sidewalks of Downtown Mpls are about to get the work out of their life as 100 Drag queens (in gravity defying pumps) descend on the Epic event center for Golden GRRRLS on Friday, June 3.
This party will set a Guinness World Record for Most Drag Performers in a Single Performance. An Adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be on hand to validate this event. (I think we'll be holding on to our crown as "gayest city in America," sorry San Fran)
Time to dust off the mantle and make room for another trophy. The American College of Sports Medicine gave us the title of America's Healthiest & Fittest City!
"New plans at the city's Heritage Preservation Commission show a one-story market at 12th Street and Hennepin Avenue S., with a liquor store, rain garden and office space to rent out. It's all set to open next spring, Lund Food Holdings Inc. confirmed Friday." -Jennifer Bjorhus, Strib

"GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista were hit with glittery confetti by a protester Tuesday during the couple's appearance at a book-signing. The man approached the Gingriches during the signing at a downtown Minneapolis hotel, dumped a cracker box full of colorful confetti on the pair." -Huff Po

"the casino would pay $50 million upfront to the state in a one-time fee. A 3 percent entertainment tax would generate $13 million to $15 million for the city of Minneapolis." -Pioneer Press

The Krave Queer Shore is coming up on Friday, May 13th. With all the drama surrounding the host Karma, we decided to sit down and get the facts, straight from the source.
Some people have had concerns about Wilde Roast Cafe's new location. After we had a wonderful walking tour of the construction site, we're confidant the critics will be transformed into cheerleaders. The new space is large (3x larger) and has a great open feel. The view from the patio looks over the downtown skyline. (Not true of WRC's new neighbors, they get to stare at the electrical plant). The park in front of the patio adds a level of charm (not that the crazy- Hennepin-Central-triangle-thing wasn't charming, but this is definitely better).
