a Sparkly way to protest

Homo:Protest

"GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista were hit with glittery confetti by a protester Tuesday during the couple's appearance at a book-signing. The man approached the Gingriches during the signing at a downtown Minneapolis hotel, dumped a cracker box full of colorful confetti on the pair." -Huff Po

"Feel the rainbow, Newt. Stop the hate. Stop anti-gay politics. It's dividing our country and it's not fixing our economy," the protester said, as he yanked out a box and dumped the sparkles on Gingrich"- NY Daily

"I am not sure the so-called "glitter bomb" dumped on him yesterday is an embarrassment to Gingrich. It's more of an embarrassment to the gay community and to the gay rights movement"-Clayton M. McCleskey, Dallas News

"If you want to know what the proverbial Darkest Moment looks like, seek no further than Glittered Newt. It sticks on his suit. It gets in his hair. Piles of it stays on the table and he signs books around it. After seeing the video, I almost wanted to rush out and make an “It Gets Better” video, directed at presidential hopefuls whose first week out of the gate goes this badly. It’s almost like that scene from “Carrie” — friendlier and more brightly colored, but equally humiliating.'-Alexandra Petri, Washington Post

"Espinosa [the protestor] has something of a reputation as a prankster when it comes to mounting political protests.  A 24-year-old unemployed social activist and Minneapolis native, Espinosa’s glitter attack on Newt Gingrich was inspired by the candidate’s stance against gay marriage and marked the latest in a series of pranks that include dumping 2,000 pennies on former Republican Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer" -LGBT weekly
