New downtown rooftop patio

The Team behind Crave (please note: the restaurant, not the party KRAVE) is opening a new restaurant in the old downtown Shinders location.  The 200 person rooftop patio is going to be quite a sight!

"The predominant feature is a retractable, 28-foot-high glass roof, which, when closed, will become a four-season, climate-controlled space."- Rick Neslon, Strib

A 4 season rooftop patio, how awesome is that!  (and we're glad something finally moved into that old Shinders)

The project is said to be completed by early November.

Golden GRRRLS, Aliveness Project Fundraiser

Homo:drag

Headliner Jackie Beat

The sidewalks of Downtown Mpls are about to get the work out of their life as 100 Drag queens (in gravity defying pumps) descend on the Epic event center for Golden GRRRLS on  Friday, June 3.

This party will set a Guinness World Record for Most Drag Performers in a Single Performance. An Adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be on hand to validate this event.  (I think we'll be holding on to our crown as "gayest city in America,"  sorry San Fran)

a Sparkly way to protest

Homo:Protest

"GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista were hit with glittery confetti by a protester Tuesday during the couple's appearance at a book-signing. The man approached the Gingriches during the signing at a downtown Minneapolis hotel, dumped a cracker box full of colorful confetti on the pair." -Huff Po

Rendering of the proposed downtown casino

"the casino would pay $50 million upfront to the state in a one-time fee. A 3 percent entertainment tax would generate $13 million to $15 million for the city of Minneapolis." -Pioneer Press

Romans become Frogs

HOMO:new
The Bulldog empire has opened its newest venture, Bullfrog,  in the old Gladius space.  When I herd they were moving in,  I assumed they would gut the place, removing the infamous aqueduct.  Not so.
