"Winner of Special Jury Prize and nominee for Grand Jury Prize (Documentary) at 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
Gene Robinson, the first openly gay person to become a bishop, will have his story told.
Macky Alston, the director, will be in the Twin Cities to present Love Free or Die at the 2012 Out Twin Cities Film Festival.
Christendom has a new ally, or as some would say, he is the enemy.
Since the consecration of Bishop Gene Robinson (To which he wore a
bullet proof vest), he has been under scrutiny by the public and
certainly by many of his peers within the religious ideologies and
traditionalists of the church. He has received death threats and has
lived under this fear for years, all because he stands for equality, In
the church and in the United State's laws!
Gene Robinson's defining passions are in direct conflict: His love of God and the love of his partner Mark.
Macky Alston offers the viewer a beautifully crafted cinematic
presentation and a voyeuristic interaction with Bishop Gene Robinson and
his life as an activist, his work in the church and at home with his
partner Mark and their family.
Macky Alston will be here in
the Twin Cities in person for a Q & A following the screening. Rev.
Kevin Downer, from All God's Children (MCC) will be the guest
moderator: http://agcmcc.org/"
